- Heat up the olive oil in a saucepan over a medium flame.
- Toss in the onion and let it cook until it's tender, usually around 5 minutes.
- Mix in the garlic and continue cooking for an additional minute.
- Mix in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Allow it to cool before using it on the pizza.
